Dr Hess sees patients in Birmingham, AL. Pediatric patients (ages 18 and younger) are seen at Children’s of Alabama. Adult patients (ages 19 and older) are seen at UAB Highlands.
Adult patients are seen in clinic for appointments most Wednesday afternoons with appointments between 1 and 4:30pm, and most Fridays between 7:30am-2:00pm. These visits occur at our UAB Highlands Hospital clinic location on the 2nd Floor.
Pediatric patients are seen in clinic for appointments most Wednesday mornings between 7:45am-11:45pm at our Children’s of Alabama clinic location on the 2nd floor of the Lowder building.
If these days do not work for you, please reach out to our team and we will do our best to accommodate an appointment time that works for you – whether in person, over the phone, or through a telemedicine/video visit.
Medical Records and Imaging
It is very helpful for our team for you to send us any medical records you may have from other providers and institutions. For example, it is very helpful if you can send us imaging reports, pathology reports, and prior operative notes. For adult patients, these may be faxed to our UAB Medical Records at 205-930-8934. You should be sure to have the referring team list Matthew Hess and Didi Phillips on the forms to ensure our team receives them. For children, these may be faxed to Children’s of Alabama at 205-638-6049. Please send us any copies of digital imaging as well. Usually this is best to bring to your appointment on a hard disc. You may also ask the imaging center to upload/send the image files to UAB of Children’s directly if they are able. It is very important for Dr Hess and his team to be able to view your image files directly and not just look at imaging reports from Radiologists.
